Pipe Major Donald Mackenzie is steeped in a family tradition of piping. As a young piper he won all the awards that were available to him including a prestigous MOD Gold Medal. He has now turned to teaching Highland piping and Scottish small piping. Donald has taught at the College of Piping in Glasgow and more recently spent three years as head of piping with the Milngavie pipe band.

Bagpipe tuition and workshops can be conducted privately on a one to one basis or at a band practise in a pipeband hall. Donald also travels round schools and overseas to deliver demonstrations of the bagpipe.

How do I get started?

The internet is a powerful tool to enable online learning. Donald recently decided to build a resource for people wanting to learn the Great Highland Bagpipe. This was achieved by creating a series of video lessons which teaches all the basics ending in a simple tune.
